AW Maritime is proud to have been the design consultant for the recently completed Broome Wharf Extension. This important upgrade for the Kimberley Ports Authority enhances the jetty’s commercial capacity with two new wharf extensions.

Working with SMC Marine WA under a design and construct model, and with procurement through KRAKEN Australia Pty Limited, the extensions were efficiently designed using steel box sections and precast, tailored to SMC’s construction plant and methodology.

The main design challenge was in temporary works to allow construction entirely from above, without floating plant. Through detailed analysis, smart engineering and planning, a method using a 200t crane, trussed piling frames, and working platforms enabled safe and efficient delivery.
