Marinas

AW Maritime’s experienced marina engineers are able to provide marina planning and design services to clients based in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, Darwin and internationally. We have a proven track record in the following areas:

• Harbour planning and design – minimising wave penetration and optimising berth distribution.
• Assessment of onshore infrastructure requirements.
• Detailed design of marine structures including jetties, wharves, wave screens, edge walls, and boat launching facilities.
• Detailed design of small craft harbours including navigation requirements, dredging, breakwaters and revetments.

  • Detailed design of marina development

Detailed design of $10 million marina development including 216m straddle carrier jetty, 1400m2 hardstand and 235m of precast concrete wave screen wall.

  • Detailed design of pier remediation and foreshore protection works

Detailed design of pier remediation and foreshore protection works, as well as the design and tender documentation of a large yacht 30 berth marina at a former shipyard at Rippleside, Geelong.

  • Detailed design for major redevelopment of harbour

Detailed design and tender documentation for a major redevelopment of the harbour including a new pier and loading platform, precast concrete wavescreen, and significant breakwater works.

  • Installation of new public marina berths

AW Maritime worked closely with Kingston City Council to help deliver the construction of new public marina berths at Patterson Lakes. AW Maritime assisted Council with stakeholder consultation, preliminary design, tender documentation, and construction phase support.

  • Design of 240 berth marina expansion

Services included a detailed site assessment incorporating extensive numerical modelling, concept design of wavescreen structures and the engagement of UNSW for physical model testing, detailed design of both FRP and precast concrete wavescreens, marina planning and layouts, and the preparation of marina D&C tender documentation.

  • Detailed design of marine structures

Detailed design of marine structures and hardstand area for the replacement of existing travel lift facilities with a new 300t travel lift, working in a D&C arrangement with Sydney Marina Construction Pty Ltd.

  • Detailed design of an extension to the existing inner breakwater

The layout of the CYCSA small craft harbour resulted in unacceptable wave penetration to berth located near the harbour entrance. AW Maritime completed the detailed design of an extension to the existing inner breakwater and assisted the club during construction, which was completed entirely by floating plant.

  • Review of works approval applications and inspection of construction

Review of works approval applications and inspection of construction to ensure works executed in accordance with DEPI, Parks Victoria and Wyndham City Council requirements. These included breakwater, marina, and coastal protection works.

  • Optimisation of the marina layout and wave protection structures

BMYS is located in a sensitive environmental site in Port Phillip Bay. AW Maritime scope of services includes the optimisation of the marina layout and wave protection structures to minimise environmental impacts, particular seabed disturbance.
