Local Port Area Plan and concept design for Sorrento Pier and improved use of Fisherman’s Shed
AW Maritime were engaged to assist Parks Victoria to develop a local port area plan addressing the existing challenges experienced for Sorrento Pier and its surrounding area. The focus was the rehabilitation of Sorrento Pier, improving safety and accessibility, provision of berthing for commercial operators, as well as creation of safe and navigable water for all the pier users.
AW Maritime developed three concept options which will be provided to community in late 2023 for public consultation. These options include the rehabilitation of Sorrento Pier, removing the inner east low landing, activation of Fisherman’s Shed and provided additional berthing in the pier via extending the infrastructure either the main pier level or the low landing level ensuring compliance with DDA regulations.
