City of Greater Geelong Jetty Structural Assessment
The Geelong City Council engaged AW Maritime to assess the condition and viability of existing City jetty assets at Griffins Gully Jetty (The Esplanade, Geelong), Grammar Jetty (Foreshore Road, Corio), Mackay Street Breakwater Jetties (North Geelong), and Rippleside Boardwalk (Western Beach).
Works undertaken by AWM at these sites included:
- Site inspection of assets at low tide.
- Condition assessment of the existing jetties and each of its components above and below the waterline. Including assessment of main structural components and assignment of a score representative to its current condition. Components include deck, balustrade, substructure, pilings and access ladders.
- Preparation of a summary report of condition inspections outlining findings.
- Advise of feasibility and or requirements to bring the jetty to standard and suited to their intended purposes.
- Advise of expected life of structure with and without repairs effected.
AW Maritime prepared a condition assessment report which presented the findings of the above works and current conditions of the structures in accordance with Ports Australia’s Wharf Structures Condition Assessment Manual (WSCAM).
