Coastal protection works

AW Maritime has completed a number of beach renourishment and foreshore protection projects. Tasks include community consultation, preparation of contract documentation and site supervision, assessment of coastal processes, development of short term and long term erosion mitigation options, and detailed design of a variety of solutions including seawalls, groynes, revetments, beach renourishments, and ‘softer’ working with nature solutions.

  • Detailed design and construction phase support

AW Maritime were engaged by SMC to provide detailed design and construction phase support for the construction of a wave baffle system to reduce wave penetration into Mordialloc Creek.

  • Planning, concept and detailed design

AW Maritime was engaged to provide planning, and concept and detailed design of an upgrade of the Sorrento foreshore including consideration of public access, landscaping and edge treatments, photomontages, and the detailed design and tender documentation all foreshore works including an extensive terraced blockwork wall.

  • Design of rock revetment

As the first stage of the Point Lonsdale Foreshore Protection Project, the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning required the construction of a rock revetment in order to support the integrity of the seawall and prevent further undercutting from wave action.

  • Design of seawall prototypes

The Department of Environment and Primary Industries engaged AW Maritime to develop concept designs and options analysis of various seawall concepts. This included assessing their performance in terms of overtopping and wave reflection.

  • Beach renourishment

Design (including SWAN and SBEACH modelling), community consultation, preparation of contract documentation and site supervision for the importation of approximately 15,000m3 of sand for the renourishment of Frankston Beach.

  • Rock revetment

Detailed design of the remediation of approximately 110m of rock revetment near Brighton, including raising the crest of the seawall to minimise erosion of the adjacent coastal path which was damaged in severe storms.

  • Erosion mitigation study

Barwon Coast Committee of Management has engaged AW Maritime to complete an assessment of short term and long term erosion mitigation options to protect public assets at the Ocean Grove Main Beach.

  • Detailed design, community consultation, tender, and site supervision
